Great Christmas stay! Lovely lodges in the jungle. Beds can be damp at times, but waking up to howler monkeys was incredible! the food was delicious, both breakfast and dinner. the beach, although a short walk away, was amazing! Really enjoyed the lodge, perfect for families.
Rooms need refurbishment, but the staff were friendly. the lodges had a tired look and the bathroom facilities were not well-maintained.

The cabins in the beautiful garden were comfortable and cozy. The breakfasts were delicious, with a variety of fresh fruits and eggs. The location was great, with lots of wildlife nearby and a lovely swimming pool to relax in. I also enjoyed exploring the local area on bikes, which were available for a reasonable price.
It was poorly equipped and lacked basic amenities like a place to dry towels or clothes. The towels provided were old and had holes in them.

During our Christmas stay, we loved the beautiful surroundings and the friendly staff. the lush greenery and wildlife in the area made it feel like we were truly in the heart of nature. the location of the hotel was perfect as it was close to the beach and other attractions. We also enjoyed the fact that we were able to rent bicycles from the hotel, which made it convenient for us to explore the area at our own pace.
There were a few things that we didn't quite like. the cleanliness of the bungalows could have been better.

The property grounds were stunning and provided a unique and beautiful setting for our New Year's stay. We enjoyed the daily breakfast, especially the surprise of having an egg station. The location of the hotel was also very convenient, with the beach just a short walk away.
The rooms were in need of refurbishment and lacked comfort. The beds were extremely uncomfortable, feeling more like coils with no padding.

The location of this hotel is fantastic, situated in the heart of the coast, between the town and the beach. It's conveniently close to various restaurants and cafes, offering a wide range of cuisine options. the bungalows themselves are spacious and authentic, with clean rooms and comfortable beds. the bathroom is beautifully designed with mosaic tiles and an open shower concept. Guests can also enjoy the lovely porch with a couch and hammock, providing a relaxing spot to unwind.
There were some issues with the facilities, as they seemed a bit tired and could have been cleaner. the toothbrush holder was filthy, which was quite disappointing.

The lodge is set in a beautiful tropical jungle with stunning grounds and a lovely pool area. The rustic cabins have screens instead of windows and a ceiling fan, creating a cozy atmosphere. The patio with a hammock and couch is a nice addition. The staff speaks great English and the breakfast is delicious. The location is convenient, close to attractions like the Jaguar Rescue Center and restaurants. There are also multiple walking paths around the property to spot wildlife.
Felt welcomed into the family, no complaints whatsoever.

The private patios with hammocks were a nice touch, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the beautiful gardens. We also enjoyed spotting lots of wildlife on the property, it added to the jungle atmosphere. The fact that breakfast was included in the stay was a great bonus, especially during our Christmas getaway.
The beds were extremely uncomfortable, it felt like sleeping on a pile of springs with no padding. This was a major drawback for us and made it difficult to get a good night's sleep.

This lodge was a hidden oasis in the jungle, surrounded by lush greenery and the sounds of nature. We loved waking up to the calls of howler monkeys and the feeling of being immersed in the rainforest. The wooden huts were cozy and had a rustic charm, providing a unique and authentic experience. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home. The pool was a great bonus, offering a refreshing break from the sun.
The beds could sometimes feel damp due to the humidity, which made it a bit uncomfortable at night. Additionally, the lack of service in the restaurant between 10am-4pm, including no drinks, was a bit inconvenient.

Jaw-dropping location with stunning grounds, surrounded by jungle and wildlife. Spacious, clean, and comfortable lodges with nature sounds all around. Helpful and friendly staff, organizing tours and maintaining cleanliness. Beautiful front porches with comfy chairs and hammocks. Conveniently located near Puerto Viejo but still private and secluded. A must-stay destination in Costa Rica!

We had a great stay at a fantastic value for our money. The room was clean and comfortable. The location was perfect, close to the beach and within walking distance to other beautiful beaches. The staff at Shawandha Lodge treated us with kindness and were always helpful in organizing our activities. Special shoutout to Gerardo, who took us everywhere in his tuktuk. And we can't forget to mention Simba, the super cute dog!
Hotel breakfast could use some improvement, maybe by adding more French technique using local ingredients to create a fusion of Afro-Caribbean and Costa Rican cuisines.
